Week 9: First Wireframe
Taking one idea a step further
📌 Introduction
This week I had to choose one idea to start building its wireframe. I picked the produce swapping one, where users can exchange their food waste for fresh produce weekly. Here’s a summary of the features this idea entails.
As you can see, I scratched the ‘Sign up to volunteer at a farm’ because I think I was adding too many features in one place. However, I am considering adding an info section where users can find where their produce comes from.
🛠 Wireframe
This is the rough user journey I built:
Onboarding → educate the user → schedule pickups → get recipes based on weekly produce→ receive produce → begin cooking, not wasting!
Below are the wireframes of this journey. Keep in mind that I will be tweaking this for next week.
➕ Advantages
Here are some of the high-level advantages I outlined:
- This idea is great for people already using and providing this type of service.
- Service providers have a stable pickup system, which means they might have a more stable income.
- Services might be able to reach more people and attract users. (A lot of these companies’ websites only work with forms and being in constant communication with the provider)
- Users would learn by doing = the recipe to success. (pun intended)
- Users won’t feel guilty when disposing food scraps; they will feel empowered and have a sense of accomplishment.
➖ Weaknesses
As there are advantages, there are also downsides:
- This solution might not work post-pandemic. Services might disappear if the government brings back their food waste pickup system.
- Tips might get redundant if there’s more standardization in methods.
- There’s still a chance of contaminating the food waste. Users might still drop their keys and a metal spoon in their bins.
💭 Final Thoughts
It was interesting to flesh out some of the main features of this concept. However, I am considering evolving my ‘Smart Groceries’ idea from last week, as not everyone can afford or has this type of service — food scraps pickup — available at hand.
For next week, I need to build a one-pager for users to give feedback on. Stay tuned for my upcoming post, where I will share more details and my findings.
As always, stay safe and healthy. See you next week✌🏼
